Regina, Saskatchewan – The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) will be presenting the 12th annual Ron Wiebe Restorative Justice Award as part of the 2010 National Restorative Justice Symposium.
The award is presented to an individual or a group who models restorative justice principles in the service of justice and peace. Created in 1999, this award honours the late Ron Wiebe – former CSC Warden of Ferndale and Elbow Lake Institutions in British Columbia – for his inspiration and commitment to the field of restorative justice.
Restorative justice is a non-adversarial, non-retributive approach to justice that emphasizes healing in victims, accountability of offenders, and the involvement of citizens in creating healthier, safer communities.
