FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ESCAPE FROM MONTÉE ST-FRANÇOIS INSTITUTION

LAVAL, QC, January 16, 2004 - On January 15, 2004, Pierre Bourgouin, a minimum-security inmate on escorted temporary absence, escaped from the supervision agency where he was to attend a meeting.

The police were notified immediately and the Correctional Service of Canada provided them with all relevant information that might lead to capturing this individual as quickly as possible.

Pierre Bourgouin, 39, has been serving a sentence of 3 years, 4 months and 25 days since September 15, 2000, for fraud, theft under $5,000 and various minor offences. He has brown hair and blue eyes, is 180 cm tall and weighs 104 kg.

The Correctional Service of Canada will conduct an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding this incident.
