FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ESCAPE FROM MONTÉE ST-FRANÇOIS INSTITUTION

LAVAL, QC, January 22, 2004 - On January 22, 2004, Steven Solyom, a minimum-security inmate, went missing from the 9:50 a.m. headcount.

The police were notified immediately and the Correctional Service of Canada is providing them with all relevant information that might lead to the capture of this individual as quickly as possible.

Steven Solyom, 38, has been serving a life sentence for second-degree murder since May 13, 1993. He is 180 cm tall and weighs 84 kg. He has brown hair and blue eyes.

The Correctional Service of Canada will conduct an investigation into the circumstances surrounding this escape.
