FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LAVAL, QC, May 28, 2004 - On May 28, 2004, Éric Paquet, a minimum-security inmate, escaped from the Federal Training Centre at 8:40 a.m. He was captured minutes later by CSC staff and the police forces that were notified immediately. The Sûreté du Québec took charge of the case.

Éric Paquet, 28, has been serving a sentence of 7 years, 6 months and 23 days since June 6, 2000, for various offences, including breaking and entering and theft.

The Correctional Service of Canada will conduct an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding this escape.
