FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LAVAL, Quebec, July 22, 2004 - On July 22, 2004, Claude Fournier a minimum-security inmate, fail to show at the site designated on his unescorted temporary absence pass.

Police were immediately notified. The Correctional Service of Canada is working with the police in an effort to recapture the offender as quickly as possible.

Claude Fournier is 65 years old and is serving a life-sentence for non-capital murder since January 7, 1969. Mr. Fournier is 165 cm tall and weighs 60 kg. He has white hair, brown eyes and a pale complexion.

The Correctional Service of Canada will investigate the incident.
