LAVAL, Quebec, August 12, 2004 - On August 12, 2004, at around 6:50 p.m., Darleen Vaughan, a medium security inmate at Joliette Institution, escaped from the penitentiary. She has not been seen since.
The Sûreté du Québec, Sûreté municipale de Joliette and SPVM police forces were notified immediately. The Correctional Service of Canada provided them with all relevant information that could lead to the apprehension of the inmate as quickly as possible.
Darleen Vaughan, 43 years of age, has been serving a sentence of 4 years, 1 month and 7 days since January 10, 2001, for robbery, breaking and entering, and traffic violations. She is 1.62 m tall and weighs 62 kg. She has green eyes and short chestnut-brown hair.
The Correctional Service of Canada will launch an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the event.
