FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DONNACONA, QC, August 27, 2004 - On Thursday, August 26, 2004 at 7:15 p.m., an inmate from the general population was assaulted with a shiv by another inmate inside the gym in sector 240.

The assault ended when the officers on duty intervened. No employees were injured during the incident.

The inmate who was assaulted was taken to the institution's infirmary to receive treatment and is doing well. The assailant was placed in segregation.

The incident was confined to these two inmates and normal operations have resumed. Management of the institution is conducting an investigation into the incident.
