FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CHILDREN'S WISH MARATHON

DONNACONA, QC, September 8, 2004 - As part of an initiative being carried out in collaboration with the Canadian Children's Wish Foundation, a team of 14 runners and seven volunteers, most of whom are employees at Donnacona Institution, will take part in a relay race covering more than 240 km on September 9 and 10, 2004.

The monies collected during this fifth edition of the Children's Wish Marathon will enable children with serious illnesses to see their fondest wish come true. Organizers are hoping to raise a total of $15,000.

In 2000, an amount of $7,000 helped one child's dream come true. In 2001, the event raised $15,000, which was used to help three children. In 2002, the $13,000 that was collected was used to assist two sick children.

In 2003, the marathon raised $8,500, which was enough to give a child in Neufchatel with acute leukemia a computer with all of the peripheral equipment needed.

This year's route will consist of a return trip between Quebec City and Trois-Rivières. The race will start on September 9, 2004 at 7:00 a.m. at the Cora's restaurant on Route de l'Église in Sainte Foy. The runners will complete this leg of the journey via Highway 132 at about 6:00 p.m. in Trois Rivières. The following day the runners will leave from Trois Rivières at the same start time and will take Highway 138, arriving at Donnacona Institution between 3:30 and 4:00 p.m.

Any local runners who wish to join this relay race are more than welcome.
