FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ESCAPE FROM A COMMUNITY RESIDENTIAL CENTRE

MONTREAL, QC, September 13, 2004 - At 9:45 p.m. on September 12, 2004, Raymond Doucet, an offender on statutory release with a residency condition, left the Community Residential Centre at which he was residing without authorization. Raymond Doucet, who is 45 years old, stands 165 cm tall and weighs 97 kg. He has brown hair and blue eyes and has a number of tattoos.

Raymond Doucet was sentenced to 3 years, 2 months and 28 days starting on March 30, 2000 for sexual assault, uttering threats and failure to comply. The Court deemed him to be a long-term offender and he is currently the subject of a long term supervision order (10 years). After going unlawfully at large on August 21, 2003, he received a sentence of 1 year, 2 months and 10 days for theft, possession of property obtained by crime and failure to comply.

A warrant of suspension and apprehension has been issued by the Correctional Service of Canada, which is actively looking for the subject in conjunction with the sexual assault squad of the Montreal Police.

The Correctional Service of Canada will conduct an investigation into the circumstances surrounding this instance of an offender going unlawfully at large.
