FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DEATH OF AN EMPLOYEE AT DONNACONA INSTITUTION

DONNACONA, QC, September 20, 2004 - At approximately 22:40 hours on September 19, 2004, an employee of Donnacona Institution was discovered lifeless by a colleague, in the search tower where he was working his shift. Initial observations appear to indicate that it was a suicide.

The employee had been working for the Correctional Service of Canada since 1996.

Around midnight, a special debriefing session was offered to immediate colleagues of the deceased employee. A general debriefing session will be held today for all employees of the Institution.

Management of the Institution has also offered employees other resources, such as the Employee Assistance Program and psychological services.

The Institution is currently closed, and activities are suspended.

Police forces have been advised, and an inquiry will be held to determine the circumstances surrounding this death.
