FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LAVAL, QC, September 20, 2004 - Following the discovery of a suspicious package on a lot adjacent to Leclerc Institution at approximately 7:30 hours, management at the Institution immediately implemented the preventive security measures set forth in the contingency plan, in order to ensure the safety of employees and inmates at the Institution.

Institutional management called in the police. Examination of the parcel proved negative.

The security perimeter was removed at about 9:45 hours. Activities at the institution then gradually returned to normal.
