FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LAVAL, QC, September 27, 2004 - On September 27, 2004, Joffre Tousignant, a minimum security inmate, missed the 10:00 a.m. count at Montée St François Institution.

Police were notified immediately and the Correctional Service of Canada shared with them all of the relevant information that could lead to the apprehension of this individual as quickly as possible.

Joffre Tousignant, aged 58, has been serving a sentence of two years and six months for weapons possession and trafficking. He stands 173 cm tall and weighs 81 kg. He has grey hair and blue eyes.

The Correctional Service of Canada will conduct an investigation into the facts to determine the circumstances surrounding the escape.
