FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ESCAPE FROM MONTÉE ST FRANÇOIS INSTITUTION

LAVAL, QC, September 27, 2004 - On September 27, 2004, Michel Léger, a minimum security inmate, missed the 10:00 a.m. call at Montée St François Institution.

Police were notified immediately and the Correctional Service of Canada shared with them all of the relevant information that could lead to the apprehension of this individual as quickly as possible.

Michel Léger, aged 56, has been serving a life sentence for second degree murder since May 3, 1988. He stands 170 cm tall and weighs 75 kg. He has grey hair and blue eyes.

The Correctional Service of Canada will conduct an investigation into the facts to determine the circumstances surrounding the escape.
