FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ESCAPE FROM A COMMUNITY CORRECTIONAL CENTRE

ST-JÉRÔME, Quebec, October 8, 2004 - On October 8, 2004, at 2:30 p.m., Daniel Beaudoin, an offender on statutory release with residence requirement, failed to return to the community correctional centre where he was supposed to live.

A warrant was immediately issued for his arrest and the police were immediately notified. The Correctional Service of Canada shared with them all of the relevant information that could lead to the apprehension of this individual as quickly as possible. The Correctional Service of Canada is also using a search officer specializing in unlawfully at large cases to locate the offender.

Daniel Beaudoin, who is 52 years old, has been serving an 8-year sentence for sexual offences since June 14, 1996. He is 165 cm tall and weighs 69 kg. He has brown hair and eyes.

The Correctional Service of Canada will conduct an examination into the facts to determine the circumstances surrounding this unlawfully at large case.
