FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DEATH AT DRUMMOND INSTITUTION

DRUMMONDVILLE, QC, November 12, 2004 - On November 12, 2004, around 2:42 a.m., Serge Perrault, an inmate at Drummond Institution, a medium-security federal penitentiary, died of complications due to illness at Cité de la Santé de Laval hospital. The inmate's family has been notified.

Serge Perreault, aged 49, had been serving a sentence of 27 years, 8 months, and 13 days for numerous robbery and disguise with intent offences.

The Correctional Service of Canada will conduct an investigation into the facts to determine the circumstances surrounding this death.
