FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LAVAL, QC, November 15, 2004 - At approximately 8:30 a.m. on November 15, 2004, Michel Lafleur, an inmate at Montée St-François minimum security federal institution, was seen walking around outside the perimeter of the institution. Police were informed immediately and the individual was quickly apprehended.

He is currently in custody under the supervision of the Laval Police Service pending his appearance in court.

Michel Lafleur, aged 47, has been serving a life sentence since April 17, 1980 for second degree murder, assault with a weapon and assault.

The Correctional Service of Canada will review the facts surrounding the circumstances of this event.
