FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DEATH AT ARCHAMBAULT INSTITUTION

SAINTE-ANNE-DES-PLAINES, QC, November 25, 2004 - On November 25, 2004, at about 11:40 a.m., Pascal Lebreux, an inmate at Archambault Institution, a medium-security federal institution, died after a long illness at Cité de la santé de Laval Hospital. The inmate's family has been notified.

Pascal Lebreux, aged 40, had been serving a sentence of 15 years, 2 months and 23 days since April 23, 1992, for manslaughter and robberies.

A police investigation and a coroner's inquest will be held to determine the cause of death. The Correctional Service of Canada will also conduct an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.
