FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ESCAPE FROM SAINTE-ANNE-DES-PLAINES INSTITUTION

SAINTE-ANNE-DES-PLAINES, QC, November 29, 2004 - On November 29, 2004, Dominic Leclerc, a minimum-security inmate, was reported unlawfully at large. His absence was noticed at the noon count. At 12:35 p.m., he was officially declared unlawfully at large.

Police were notified immediately and the Correctional Service of Canada shared with them all of the relevant information that could lead to the apprehension of this individual as quickly as possible.

Dominic Leclerc, aged 26, has been serving a sentence of 2 years, 7 months and 9 days since July 15, 2004 for a variety of offences, including several charges of theft, possession of property obtained by crime and possession of burglary tools. He stands 189 cm tall (6' 2") and weighs 110 kg (242 lbs.). He has brown eyes and hair and several tattoos on his arms.

The Correctional Service of Canada will conduct an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding his escape.
