FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MONTREAL, QC, December 4, 2004 - At 9:35 a.m. on December 4, 2004, Joseph Desbois was arrested at the Community Correctional Centre at which he was residing after an arrest warrant was issued by the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC).

CSC had issued the warrant of apprehension and suspension of statutory release to shed light on allegations of involvement in a sexual assault and child pornography offence and to ensure public safety.

Léon Joseph Desbois, aged 26, has been serving a sentence of 4 years and 21 days since November 6, 2001 for offences of theft over, theft under, possession of break-in instrument and mischief.

The Correctional Service of Canada will conduct an investigation into the circumstances of the arrest.
