FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ESCAPE FROM MONTÉE ST-FRANÇOIS INSTITUTION

LAVAL, QC, December 22, 2004 - On December 22, 2004, Lionel Boucher, an inmate at Montée St-François Institution, a minimum-security institution, was declared missing at the 12:10 p.m. count.

Police were notified immediately and the Correctional Service of Canada shared with them all of the relevant information that could lead to the apprehension of this individual as quickly as possible.

Lionel Boucher, aged 43, has been serving a sentence of 2 years, 9 months and 8 days since November 12, 2003 for failure to stop at the scene of an accident and theft over $5,000. He stands 183 cm tall and weighs 91 kg. He has hazel eyes and gray hair.

The Correctional Service of Canada will conduct an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding his escape.
