STE-ANNE-DES-PLAINES, QC, March 22, 2005 - The Warden of Ste-Anne-des-Plaines Institution, Mr. Jean-Luc Gougeon, is pleased to invite media representatives to an open house to be held on Thursday, March 31, 2005 from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. Participants are asked to arrive early, between 8:30 a.m. and 8:50 a.m., for screening purposes.

On this occasion, a longstanding volunteer at Ste-Anne-des-Plaines will be speaking about her experience working with inmates. She will be discussing what she has accomplished and still hopes to accomplish and what she has gained from her involvement. Drawing on her own experiences, she will talk about her role with the inmates, her successes and failures, the benefits she derives and what she is able to contribute.

There will also be an opportunity to speak with inmates representing a number of groups in the general population, such as the inmate committee and the Native Brotherhood.

Those media representatives who are interested will then have an opportunity to participate in a guided tour of the main sectors of the institution and will receive documentation on the various aspects of prison life, correctional activities and programs as well as the way that penitentiaries are managed.

Ste-Anne-des-Plaines Institution is located at:
