FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ESCAPE FROM MONTÉE ST-FRANÇOIS INSTITUTION

LAVAL, QC, April 11, 2005 - On April 11, 2005, Pierre Gagnon, an inmate of the Montée St-François Institution, a federal minimum-security penitentiary, fled the location where he was performing community work.

Police were informed immediately, and the Correctional Service of Canada shared with them all relevant information that might lead to the early apprehension of this individual.

Aged 55, Pierre Gagnon has been incarcerated since November 6, 1973, for various offences including arson and manslaughter. He is 170 cm tall and weighs 95 kg. He has brown hair and brown eyes and is fair-skinned.

The Correctional Service of Canada will conduct an investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident.
