2004 REGIONAL VOLUNTEER AWARD CEREMONY

LAVAL, QC, April 12, 2005 - The Deputy Commissioner of the Quebec Region of the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC), Denis Méthé, will present the 2004 Regional Volunteer Award to Henriette Doré and Claude Mainville at a ceremony to be held at the Staff College, 5500 Lévesque Blvd. East, Laval on Tuesday, April 19, 2005 at 6:00 p.m. We would also like to underline the presence of the Lieutenant-Governor Ms Lise Thibault.

Through different kinds of volunteer work at CSC over the past 15 years, Mrs. Doré and Mr. Mainville have shown a dedication to CSC's Mission and made an outstanding contribution to offender reintegration based on restorative justice principles.

They have been involved in different institutions and community organizations, racking up a total of 5,544 hours recognized by CSC, not counting their work in the community.

This couple is a source of inspiration, perseverance, hope and humanism for everyone around them. They have had a positive impact on numerous inmates and CSC employees in various environments both inside and outside the walls. Their contribution has even gone beyond Canada's borders, since Mrs. Doré was an instructor for workshops on pardon in Belgium in 2001.

CSC has over 10,000 volunteers working in penitentiaries and parole offices, who add an important dimension to the work done by correctional service professionals.
