FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DEATH AT MONTÉE ST-FRANÇOIS INSTITUTION

LAVAL, QC, April 18, 2005 - On April 17, 2005, Jean-Paul Pomerleau, an inmate from Montée St-François Institution, a minimum-security federal institution, died of natural causes at Cité de la santé Hospital, in Laval.

Jean-Paul Pomerleau, aged 46, was serving a 2 years and 6 months sentence for production and possession of narcotics. His sentence commenced November 9, 2004. The next of kin have been notified.

A coroner's inquest will be held and the Correctional Service of Canada will conduct an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.
