FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LAVAL, QC, May 19, 2005 - At 11:00 a.m. on May 19, 2005, Mario Beaudry, an inmate from the Federal Training Centre, a minimum-security federal penitentiary in Laval, escaped from lawful custody while on an escorted temporary absence for medical reasons.
Police were informed immediately and the Correctional Service of Canada shared with them all relevant information that might lead to the apprehension of the individual as soon as possible.
Mario Beaudry, aged 38, has been serving a 4-year sentence for robbery and possession of a weapon since January 14, 2004. He is fair skinned with hazel eyes and brown hair, stands 5'11" (178 cm) tall and weighs 147 lbs (67 kilos). He has a scar near his left eye and three tattoos, on his back, torso and shoulder.
The Correctional Service of Canada will conduct an examination into the facts to determine the circumstances surrounding this incident.
