FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PORT-CARTIER, QC, May 26, 2005 - The Warden of Port-Cartier Institution, a maximum-security federal penitentiary, invites media representatives to an open house to be held on Tuesday, May 31 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

On this occasion, media representatives will be greeted by the Institution's management team, receive information on Aboriginal programming, and have the opportunity to participate in a guided tour of the main areas of the penitentiary.

Port-Cartier Institution is located at:

Port-Cartier, Quebec

Please confirm your attendance by 12:00 noon on May 30 with Kathy Simoës at (418) 766-7070, ext. 2885 and give the names of the people who will be accompanying you. For security reasons, and to expedite the registration process, visitors will be required to identify themselves with a photo ID. As well, all visitors and their personal effects and technical equipment will be screened by X-ray equipment and a detector dog. Please note also that cellular telephones will not be allowed in the institution.
