FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

OFFENDER UNDER SUPERVISION UNLAWFULLY AT LARGE

MONTREAL, QC, June 1, 2005 - On May 28, 2005, Didier Keita, an offender on statutory release with a residency condition, left the Montreal community correctional centre at which he was residing to go to a convenience store and never returned.

A warrant of arrest was immediately issued by the Correctional Service of Canada officer on call and the police were notified immediately. The Correctional Service of Canada shared with them all of the relevant information that could lead to the apprehension of this individual as quickly as possible. A Correctional Service of Canada officer who specializes in conducting searches in unlawfully at large cases is also involved in the effort to locate the inmate.

Didier Keita, aged 22, has been serving a sentence of 3 years and 7 days for sexual assault and trespassing at night since June 26, 2002. He stands 179 cm. (5'10'') tall and weighs 74 kg. (163 lbs.). He has thick black hair, a medium complexion and brown eyes.

The Correctional Service of Canada will conduct an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding this escape.
