SAINTE-ANNE-DES-PLAINES, QC, July 11, 2005 - On July 11, 2005, Jean-Marc Lévesque, a minimum-security inmate, escaped from Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines institution. The inmate was present at the last official count, early morning. As soon as the escape was noticed, the management of Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines institution was informed and search procedures begun.
Police were informed immediately and the Correctional Service of Canada shared with them all relevant information that might lead to the apprehension of the individual as soon as possible.
Jean-Marc Lévesque, aged 30, has been serving a 2 years and 6 months sentence for several breaking and entering since February 23, 2005. He has auburn hair and green eyes, stands 172 cm (5'8'') tall and weighs 91 kilos (201 lbs).
The Correctional Service of Canada will conduct an examination into the facts to determine the circumstances surrounding this incident.
