FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CONTRABAND AT LECLERC INSTITUTION

LAVAL, Quebec, August 31, 2005 - At about 9:00 a.m., during a search of the common room in Leclerc Institution, security offices assisted by the canine squad, seized a large quantity of narcotics.

Analysis of the products revealed various drugs, but primarily hashish (18 grams) and Ecstasy (52 pills) having a total value inside the institution of $15,000.

On the same day, at about 2:00 p.m., a woman who had come to visit an inmate was intercepted while attempting to bring in 29 grams of hashish with a value inside the institution of $2,900. The visitor was arrested and handed over the authorities of the Sûreté du Québec.

The CSC works closely with local police services and communities to prevent the introduction of drugs into the institutions.
