FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

UNLAWFULLY AT LARGE FROM SAINTE-ANNE-DES-PLAINES INSTITUTION

LAVAL, Quebec, September 16, 2005 - Michel Brisson, an inmate at Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines Institution, a minimum-security federal penitentiary, escaped while on an escorted temporary absence for personal development in Montréal.

Police were notified immediately and the Correctional Service of Canada shared with them all of the relevant information that could lead to the arrest of this individual as quickly as possible.

Since August 7, 1975, Michel Brisson, 48, has been serving a sentence of 32 years, 9 months and 19 days for robbery, armed robbery and forcible confinement offences. He is 176 cm tall and weighs 72 kg. He has brown hair, hazel eyes and fair skin.

The Correctional Service of Canada will conduct an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding this incident.
