DRUMMONDVILLE, QC, October 7, 2005 - At approximately 3:00 p.m. on October 3, 2005, an inmate at Drummond Institution handed over to correctional officers a package containing 61 Dilaudil tablets with an estimated institutional value of $1,525. The package, which had been hidden in his body cavities, had been given to him by his spouse during a private family visit. This seizure followed an internal investigation conducted by our Security Intelligence Officers.
The case has been handed over to the police, and charges might be brought against the inmate and the visitor. The inmate has been in segregation since the seizure.
