FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

UNLAWFULLY AT LARGE FROM MONTÉE ST-FRANÇOIS INSTITUTION

LAVAL, QC, October 13, 2005 - On October 13, 2005, Richard Larouche, an inmate at Montée St-François Institution, a federal minimum security institution, failed to report to his work release site.

Police were notified immediately and the Correctional Service of Canada shared with them all of the relevant information that could lead to the apprehension of this individual as quickly as possible.

Since January 14, 1988, Richard Larouche, 59, has been serving a life sentence for second-degree murder, attempted murder and manslaughter. He stands 181 cm tall (5'11") and weighs 84 kg (186 lbs). He wears glasses and is partially bald, with grey hair and brown eyes.

The Correctional Service of Canada will conduct an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the escape.
