DRUMMONDVILLE, QC, October 20, 2005 - On October 16, 2005, at about 12:50 p.m., following an internal investigation conducted by our Security Intelligence Officers in collaboration with the dog handler, a woman visiting an inmate at Drummond Institution, a medium security federal institution, gave the staff a package that she had hidden in her body cavities containing 62 grams of hashish, with an estimated institutional value of $6,200.
The case has been handed over to police authorities, and charges will be brought against the visitor. The inmate was placed in segregation.
The Correctional Service of Canada is committed to ensuring the security of its institutions, staff and the community.
Visitors have an important role to play in stopping drugs from entering our institutions.
