FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

INMATE FROM THE FEDERAL TRAINING CENTRE UNLAWFULLY AT LARGE

LAVAL (Quebec), November 23, 2005 - On November 23, 2005, Jacques Poulin, an inmate of the Federal Training Centre, a minimum-security federal institution, went absent without leave from the location he was authorized to attend on a temporary absence with escort to perform community service.

Police were notified immediately and the Correctional Service of Canada shared with them all relevant information that could lead to the apprehension of this individual as quickly as possible.

Since October 6, 1981, Jacques Poulin, 59, has been serving a sentence of 31 years, 6 months and 23 days for armed robbery, unlawful confinement, extortion and possession of illegal substances. He has a fair complexion, brown eyes, brown hair, stands 183 cm (6') tall and weighs 87 kg (192 lbs).

The Correctional Service of Canada will be conducting a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident.

The authorities at the Federal Training Centre wish to remind citizens that there is a toll-free telephone line (1 866 231 6495) that they can use to provide the appropriate party with information concerning this incident. Such information is treated with confidentiality and a Security Intelligence Officer provides follow up.
