FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LAVAL, QC, December 12, 2005 - The Correctional Service of Canada would like to inform the media that a Christmas nativity scene built by inmates from Archambault Institution, in Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines, is on display along with approximately 290 other nativity scenes at the museum of Saint Joseph's Oratory in Montreal.
The scene was built in 2004 by inmates participating in a mental health program, which included an artistic creation component.
The Honourable Lise Thibault, Lieutenant Governor of Quebec, paid tribute to these craftsmen by acquiring the nativity scene through her foundation.
Ms. Thibault generously loaned this artwork to the Museum of Saint Joseph's Oratory for its annual exhibit. The public and the media are invited to come and admire the nativity scene, which is one of hundreds of nativity scenes to be shown from around the world. The exhibit will be shown every day until February 26, 2006, including December 25th and January 1st from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
