SAINTE-ANNE-DES-PLAINES, QC, December 15, 2005 - Following investigations, Security Intelligence Officers recently made three drug seizures at Archambault Institution, a medium-security federal penitentiary.
On December 9, 2005, a woman visitor attempted to bring 64.5 grams of hashish into the institution.
The following day at a community celebration, following intervention by the Dog Master another woman visitor, carrying 23.5 grams of hashish concealed in body cavities, was intercepted.
A third event occurred on December 12, 2005, when 32 grams of hashish were discovered during an inmate's private family visit. The visit was suspended immediately.
These discoveries resulted in the seizure of 120 grams of hashish, worth $12,000 inside the institution.
The Correctional Service of Canada works closely with communities and local police forces in order to keep drugs out of the federal penitentiaries.
