FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
JOLIETTE, QC, December 21, 2005 - On December 17, 2005, staff at Joliette Institution, a penitentiary for women serving federal sentences, seized 26.7 grams of cocaine in a parcel found inside the institution's security perimeter.
Apparently the parcel had been thrown over the security perimeter fence. The seized drug, worth $1,350 inside the institution, was handed over to the Sûreté du Québec.
The authorities at Joliette Institution take this opportunity to inform citizens that they can contact the institution at (450) 752-5257 if they witness a situation that suggests illicit activity near the penitentiary's security perimeter. The information will be treated confidentially, and follow-up will be provided by a Security Intelligence Officer.
