DONNACONA, QC, January 5, 2006 - On December 31, 2005, through the combined efforts of security intelligence officers, correctional officers and the dog handler at Donnacona Institution, 126.3 g of hashish were seized during a private family visit. A woman visiting an inmate had hidden the narcotics on her person to bring them into the maximum-security federal penitentiary.

This quantity of drugs has an estimated institutional value of $12,600. The total value of the drugs seized at Donnacona Institution since April 2005 is $208,188.

A toll-free telephone line to Donnacona Institution, 1 866 355 DONA (3662), is available for citizens to inform the authorities of any pressure being exerted on them by visitors or inmates involved in drug trafficking, intimidation, assault or loan sharking. This information is treated confidentially, and a Security Intelligence Officer provides follow up.
