FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
DEATH AT THE FEDERAL TRAINING CENTRE
LAVAL, QC, January 20, 2006 - On January 20, 2006, Marcel Péloquin, an inmate of the Federal Training Centre, a minimum-security federal penitentiary, succumbed to natural causes at the hospital of Archambault Institution in Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines.
Marcel Péloquin, 65, had been serving a life sentence for manslaughter, rape and robbery since January 25, 1962.
A coroner's inquest will be held and the Correctional Service of Canada will conduct an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.
