JOLIETTE, QC, February 10, 2006 - On February 7, 2006, the staff of Joliette Institution, a penitentiary for federally-sentenced women, seized 21.9 grams of amphetamine in a package found on the inner perimeter of this institution.
The package was probably thrown over the fence surrounding the security perimeter. The institutional value of the drugs seized is $1,100. The drugs were turned over to the Sûreté du Québec.
The authorities at Joliette Institution would like to inform citizens that they can contact the institution at (450) 752-5257 if they see a suspicious situation that may involve illegal activities near the penitentiary's security perimeter. Such information is treated with confidentiality and a Security Intelligence Officer provides follow-up.
