FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LAVAL, QC, February 15, 2006 - At Leclerc Institution, a medium security federal penitentiary, Preventive Security staff joined forces with the canine squad to block an attempt to bring in a large quantity of narcotic drugs.

On February 13, 2006, at around 14:15 hours, staff discovered, hidden under the bumper of a vehicle, a package containing more than 500 grams of hashish, with an institutional value of approximately $50,000.

The Sûreté du Québec is in charge of the investigation. To date, no charges have been laid because officers have determined that the driver of the vehicle is not involved in this conspiracy.
