DONNACONA, QC, February 24, 2006 - On February 21, 2006, following an investigation by Security Intelligence Officers, in cooperation with the dog handler, 8.3 grams of heroin were seized from an inmate's cell at the maximum security penitentiary, Donnacona Institution.

Narcotics of this amount have an institutional value of $8,300. The total institutional value of drugs seized at Donnacona Institution since April 2005 is more than $240,000.

A toll free line linked to Donnacona Institution, 1 866 355 DONA (3662), allows citizens to inform the authorities of pressures they may face from visitors and/or inmates who engage in drug trafficking, intimidation, assault and loansharking. Information is confidential and follow up is conducted by a Security Intelligence Officer.
