JOLIETTE, QC, March 30, 2006 - On March 19, 2006, the staff of Joliette Institution, a federal penitentiary for women, seized 31.3 grams of amphetamine in a package found on the inner perimeter of the institution.
The package was probably thrown over the fence surrounding the security perimeter. The drugs seized, which have an institutional value of $1,500, were turned over to the Sûreté du Québec.
The authorities at Joliette Institution take this opportunity to inform citizens that they can contact the institution at (450) 752 5257 if they see anything that makes them suspect unlawful activities near the penitentiary's security perimeter. Such information will be treated with confidentiality, and a Security Intelligence Officer will provide follow up.
