FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SAINTE-ANNE-DES-PLAINES, QC, September 12, 2006 - On September 11, 2006, Denis St-Aubin, an inmate at Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines Institution, a minimum-security federal penitentiary in Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines, escaped from lawful custody at around 7:45 p.m.

Police were informed immediately and the Correctional Service of Canada provided them with all relevant information that could lead to the apprehension of the individual as soon as possible.

Denis St-Aubin, aged 54, has been serving a sentence of 43 years, 10 months and 17 days since July 28, 1977, for multiple counts of robbery and assault. He is a white male with blue eyes and thick, brown greying hair, stands 6'1'' (185 cm) tall, weighs 163 lbs (74 kg) and has a scar on his cheek.

The Correctional Service of Canada will conduct an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding this incident.

Authorities at Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines Institution are asking anyone with information on this incident to call the toll free phone number at 1-800-348-1204. Such information is treated with confidentiality, and a security intelligence officer provides follow up.
