LAVAL, QC, October 12, 2006 - On October 12, 2006, Giorgio Sammito and Donald Fernandes, two inmates at Montée Saint-François Institution, a minimum-security federal penitentiary, escaped at around 6:45 a.m.
Police were informed immediately and the Correctional Service of Canada provided them with all relevant information and is giving them its full cooperation to apprehend the individuals as soon as possible.
Giorgio Sammito, aged 38, has been serving a sentence of two years and six months for robbery since November 11, 2005. He is 178 cm (5 feet, 10 inches) tall and weighs 87 kg (192 lbs). He has long black hair, brown eyes, a light complexion, a goatee and a moustache.
Donald Fernandes, aged 22, has been serving a seven-year sentence for manslaughter and robbery since June 25, 2004. He is 183 cm (6 feet) tall and weighs 82 kg (181 lbs). He has brown hair, green eyes, a light complexion, a goatee and a small moustache.
The Correctional Service of Canada will conduct an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding this event.
