OFFENDER UNLAWFULLY AT LARGE AT MONTÉE SAINT-FRANÇOIS INSTITUTION

LAVAL, QC, October 12, 2006 - On October 11, 2006, Nelson Bisson, an inmate at Montée Saint-François Institution, a minimum-security federal penitentiary, was declared to be unlawfully at large when he did not return to the Institution at the end of the day from his work release.

Police were informed immediately and the Correctional Service of Canada provided them with all relevant information and is giving them its full cooperation to apprehend the individual as soon as possible.

Nelson Bisson, aged 35, has been serving a sentence of 21 years, 4 months and 8 days for various offences involving robbery since June 22, 1989. He is 168 cm (5 feet, 6 inches) tall and weighs 78 kg (172 lbs). He has brown hair, blue eyes and a light complexion.

The Correctional Service of Canada will conduct an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding this event.
