PORT-CARTIER, QC, November 10, 2006 - As part of the United Way workplace campaign, staff and management at Port-Cartier Institution, a maximum-security federal penitentiary, are inviting the public to an open house on Sunday, November 19, 2006.
Visitors will have the rare opportunity to visit a prison cell and a cell range in a residential unit for inmates, which is currently closed for renovations. The tour will be restricted to this location. Absolutely no contact with offenders is possible.
When: Sunday, November 19, 2006, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Who: Persons aged 18 and over with a photo ID (compulsory) who have registered beforehand.
Cost: Voluntary $5 donation to the United Way.
How: Please register by November 16 by contacting Louise Lajoie at 766-7070, ext. 2885, and stating your name and date of birth. Photographs, video cameras and cellular phones will not be allowed.
