FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

OPEN HOUSE AT VILLE-MARIE AREA PAROLE OFFICE

MONTREAL, QC, November 14, 2006 - Correctional Service of Canada is pleased to invite members of the media to an open house on Thursday, November 16, 2006, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Ville-Marie Area Parole Office and the Centre d'études et de recherche de l'Université de Montréal.

Parole officers and criminal delinquency specialists work together at the Ville-Marie Area Parole Office. The Office provides supervision and counselling services for parolees who are serving the remainder of their federal sentence in the community. It is one of approximately 20 similar offices and Community Correctional Centres (halfway houses) under CSC, Quebec Region.

At the open house, video and kiosk information will be available to visitors regarding the types of supervision and services CSC provides for offenders to help with their reintegration.

The Office is located next to the Centre d'études et de recherche de l'Université de Montréal (CERUM), which visitors may also tour. CERUM is a laboratory with an excellent reputation in the field of assessment and clinical intervention for sex offenders. Specialists at the centre will also be available to greet visitors.
