LAVAL, QC, December 1, 2006 - On November 25, 2006, staff at the Leclerc Institution, a medium-security federal penitentiary, seized a substantial quantity of drugs.
Balls containing various narcotics had been thrown over the perimeter fences and recovered by patrol officers.
An analysis of their contents showed that the balls contained 6.5 grams of crack, 25 grams of marijuana, and 19 grams of methamphetamine (crystal meth). They also contained 135 tablets of morphine and Dilodyl, and 10 100-mg tablets of Viagra. The total value of these drugs inside the Institution is $21,000.
The authorities at Leclerc Institution wish to remind citizens that there is a toll-free telephone line, Info-Crime (450-664-6702), for reporting any pressure to which a visitor may be subjected by other visitors and/or inmates involved in drug trafficking, intimidation, assault and loan-sharking. Such information is treated with confidentiality, and a security intelligence officer will provide follow-up.
