FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LAVAL, QC, April 22, 2007 - On April 22, 2007, Gérard Charbonneau, a parolee, died at the St Eustache general hospital.

The parolee was pronounced dead by the hospital physician at around 1:00 p.m.

Gérard Charbonneau, 59, had been serving a life sentence for manslaughter since December 22, 1975.

CSC takes the death of an inmate very seriously. The loss of life is a tragedy at any time.

As in all cases where an inmate dies, the police and coroner are called in to investigate.

CSC will also be conducting an investigation.
